Jeffrey Brownson
Jeff is an associate with the firm and practices criminal defense and civil litigation. He has defended clients in courts throughout the State of Idaho and successfully tried cases in both federal and state courts. He represents a broad range of clients facing investigation or prosecution including violent crimes, sex offenses, drug offenses, driving offenses, wildlife crimes and "white collar" crimes.
Raised in Washington State, Jeff previously was a partner and manager of a fine dining restaurant and lodge in Big Sky, Montana. He has worked for Nevin Benjamin McKay & Bartlett LLP since 2007. Prior to joining the firm he served a one year clerkship with the Honorable Michael McLaughlin, District Judge, Fourth Judicial District of Idaho. During law school, Jeff was a legal intern with the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho, Capital Habeas Unit, where he assisted in habeas corpus proceedings at the federal level for Idaho inmates sentenced to death.
Jeff is a frequent speaker in the community on various legal topics including civil liberties. He is a member of the ACLU of Idaho Legal Committee, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2009 he completed the Trial Practice Institute at the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia.
